Our Wine Producers all have vineyards in the Hilltops Region, and are characterised by their diversity.
Ranging from large scale commercial plantings, to smaller boutique enterprises.

Quality is the keynote with wines and fruit sourced from the Hilltops Region regularly attracting major awards.  The classic red varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are especially prominent but there is also growing recognition of the Hilltops Region’s potential for Italian red varieties such as Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and Rondinella. And Italian origin white varieties too – notably Prosecco and Fiano.

Barwang Wines

Barwang is a cornerstone vineyard in the Hilltops region.  Founded in 1969 by the Robertson family, and later owned and run by the McWilliams family, it has earned a powerful reputation for its grapes and wines.  Since 1990, Barwang has won more than 1,000 medals at Australian and international wine shows.  Barwang has in the past been recognised as a 5 Red Star Winery by respected wine writer James Halliday, an honour bestowed on only 3% of Australian wineries.

The Bowman family has been farming this beautiful area of the Hilltops for seven generations and are long-time neighbours to Barwang and acquired the vineyard at the end of 2021.  They were struck by the incredible water quality on the property, only to discover that the name Barwang means ‘place of water’.  Wendy and James Bowman look forward to preserving this historic and significant vineyard, continuing to grow superior quality grapes while working with some of the country’s best winemakers to reinvigorate the Barwang reputation.

Burrangong Ridge is the passion project of local lawyer Eris Gleeson and his wife Fiona Gleeson, a single shiraz vineyard produceing a single wine – Burrangong Timbercutter Shiraz.
